LV Jayaweera Schools boxing at SSK from July 12 to 16

The L.V. Jayaweera Schools Boxing (Boys) meet conducted by the Schools Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (SBASL) will be held from July 12 to 16 at St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy auditorium.   

This meet was last held in 2019 and could not be held for three years due to Corona outbreak.   
Nearly 300 boxers from 70 schools are expected to take part in this meet, according to SBASL Secretary Jamitha Bandara.   

The entries for this tournament close on July 5 and lot of new schools are expected to take part in this event.   The competition will be for four categories: For schoolboy participants born in 2008-2009, Junior (2006-2007), Youth (2004-2005), and Elite (after 2003).   The Elite category is for those students who left school last year.   The LV Jayaweera Girls boxing meet was held last month in Ratnapura with Poramadulla National School emerging champions and Dheerananda MV, Pilimathalawa ending as runners-up.
