Lakshmi Victoria elected new Netball President

Former Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) President Lakshmi Victoria of Nationalised Services was re-elected President of the (SLNF) for a another two-year period at the election held at the Duncan White Auditorium, Ministry of Sports yesterday.   


She polled 21 votes while the other candidate Caryll Tozer of Western Province polled 11 votes. Two other candidates Padma Baddewela (Colombo) and Vajira Pushpakumari (Gampaha) withdrew their nominations prior to the election.   


Vindana Dayaratne (Kegalle) was elected Secretary polling 20 votes while his opponent D.C. Sumithra (Ratnapura) polled nine votes. Nitharshani Kulentwiran (Vavuniya) was elected uncontested as the other contestant Champa Gunawardene withdrew her nomination.   


The incumbent President Ranjini Jayakody and Secretary Kumudini Gomes didn’t contest at the election.
