Sri Lanka’s medal prospect Indika Dissanayake failed to make an impact as he finished last in the Men’s 73kg weight class event at the Commonwealth Games weightlifting competition in Birmingham, England on Sunday.
The 2018 Games Silver Medallist struggled with his rhythm from the start and fumbled on several occasions during the snatch segment of the competition.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Chathuranga Jayasooriya also disappointed and settled with the fifth place in the Men’s 67kg weight class event.

The Bronze Medallist at the 2018 Games in Gold Coast, lifted 119kg in the snatch category and a further 140kg in the clean and jerk category for a total of 259kg while missing out the fourth place by a mere 1kg.

India’s Lalrinnunga Jeremy won the Gold Medal in this event with a new Games record of 300kg while Vaipava Nevo of Samoa took the Silver Medal with a total of 293kg.
