Lokuhettige found guilty of violating ICC Anti-Corruption Code

Former Sri Lanka all-rounder Dilhara Lokuhettige was found guilty of violating the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Code, the ICC said on Thursday. 

Lokuhettige, who played nine ODIs and two T20Is for Sri Lanka, was charged with three offences under the Anti-Corruption Code in November 2019, to which the player exercised his right to a hearing before an independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal. 

The Tribunal has found Lokuhettige guilty on all charges and he remains suspended, with sanctions to follow in due course, an ICC media release said.

"The three-member Tribunal concluded, by a majority, that the ICC had jurisdiction to bring the charges against Lokuhettige and was unanimous in deciding the merits of the case," it also said. 

Lokuhettige has been found guilty of violating articles 2.1.1 – for being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive or otherwise influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or other aspect(s) of a match; 2.1.4 – Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1; and 2.4.4 - Failing to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in corrupt conduct under the Code.

"Lokuhettige has also been charged by the ICC on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) with breaching three counts of the ECB Anti-Corruption Code for Participants for the T10 League and these proceedings are ongoing," the media release also said.
