MILO Football Champs 2024 of Mullaitivu-Northern Province

Colombo, Mar. 5 (Daily Mirror) - The second match of the MILO Football Champs 2024 - Northern Province, (under 10 and under 12) were held in the Mullaitivu district over the weekend with the participation of 32 teams, comprising 14 Girls teams and 18 Boys teams.

Emerging victorious this weekend were Mu/Udayaarkaddu Government Tamil Mix School (Girls under 10), Mu/Iranaippalai Roman CatholicMaha Vidyalaya (Boys - under 10), Mu/Mullaitivu Roman Catholic Girls School (Girls under 12) and Mu/Mullaitivu Maha Vidyalaya (Boys under - 12).

From this weekend’s event, the teams representing the following schools are qualified to compete in the highly anticipated final round, scheduled to be held at the Duraiappa Stadium in Jaffna on March 23.

  • Under 10 Girls: Mu/Udayaarkaddu Government Tamil Mixed School, Mu/Alampil Roman CatholicMaha Vidyalaya, Mu/Muththaiyankadda (Idathukarai) Government Tamil Mix School and Mu/Kuravil Tamil Vidyalaya.
  • Under 10 Boys: Mu/Iranaippalai Roman Catholic Maha Vidyalaya, Mu/Alampil Roman Catholic Maha Vidyalaya, Mu/Kuravil Tamil Vidyalaya and Mu/Chilavathai Tamil Vidyalaya.
  • Under 12 Girls: Mu/Mullaitivu Roman Catholic Girls School, Mu/Alampil Roman Catholic Maha Vidyalaya, Mu/Kumulamunai Maha Vidyalaya and Mu/Udayarkaddu Maha Vidyalaya.
  • Under 12 Boys: Mu/Mullaitivu Maha Vidyalaya, Mu/Chilavathai Tamil Vidyalaya, Mu/Kompavil Vikeneswara Vidyalaya and Mu/Kuravil Tamil Vidyalaya.

Unleashing the potential of future football stars, the MILO Football Champs programme aims to ignite the sportsmanship skills of aspiring athletes in the Northern Province.

Alongside the tournament, a select group of talented individuals will receive specialized training on weekends over the coming months, guided by seasoned coaches from the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association.

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Northern Province Department of Education, and the sponsorship of Nestlé MILO, the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association will manage the facilitation of this programme.
