The good news for the visiting Sri Lankan team in Bangladesh is that pace bowler Vishwa Fernando’s MRI scan is clear.
The 30-year-old left-arm medium pace bowler was hit in the head by a Shoriful Islam delivery just before Tea on day two of the ongoing first Test, and while he continued to bat after initial checks, Kasun Rajitha took over as his concussion replacement the following day.
Vishwa Fernando was taken to the Imperial Hospital in Chattogram for his MRI. He was also examined by a neuro physician there.
“He has been cleared by the doctors, however it will be the decision of the team management to include him in the final eleven in the second Test,” a source told the Daily Mirror.
In the meantime, its bad news for Bangladesh, with Islam, their 20-year-old left arm medium-fast bowler, having sustained a fracture on his hand.
He was retired out in the first innings after being struck on the hand by a Rajitha delivery. He is out of the ongoing Test and likely to miss the second Test.
