Madushan and Chamindi come on top

(Daily Mirror) - The 5km half event of the All Island School Games conducted by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Pvt Ltd under the brand Nestomalt which concluded at Galle saw W.H. Kavindu Madushan of Kaburuwala National College and K.Y. Chamindi of Makandura Central coming out on top in the boys and girls categories respectively.

Madushan representing the Western Province ended the race with a timing of 14.78 while Chamindi ended with a timing of 18.51. In the boys category Madushan was followed by A.A. Kalhara of Walagedera Central (15.40), Malindu Prabhabjana also of Walagedera Central (15.46), K.H.M. Priya Kelum of Richmond (5.41) and E.D. Binusara Udayanga of Siri Sugatha MV (15.57).

In the girls category Chamindi was followed by M.D. Tharushi Udara of Ananda Sastrala NS Matungama (18.57), K. Kavindi Sachindya (19/06), U.D. Miyurikka Manel of Walagedera MV Matugama (19.17) and N. Chalani Kaushalya of Sri Sumangala MV Ihalagama (19.25).

The Nestomalt 21km Half Marathon saw the participation of over 300 from schools around the island was flagged off opposite the Galle bus stand taking the route towards Thalpe Beach and ending at the Galle International Stadium.
