Mahela-Sanga Trophy on April 26 and 27

The 44th Trinity-Nalanda First XI cricket encounter will be played in Colombo at Nalanda College Grounds on April 26th and 27th. The special feature of this clash is that both schools will battle it out to grab the prestigious Mahela-Sanga Challenge trophy which was presented by two cricketing legends produced by both Nalanda and Trinity.   
This year’s theme for the clash will be ‘Spirit of cricket Legacy for Future Generations’ reflects the commitment of both schools to instill the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and integrity in young cricketers.   
The annual cricket encounter inaugurated in 1978 which has a special place in the cricketing calendar named after the two cricketing legends, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, who are alumni of these two esteemed institutions. The challenge trophy embodies the spirit of cricket and camaraderie between the two schools.   
As Trinity scored three consecutive wins to own the glittering trophy and Nalanda will make an effort to bring the trophy from the cool climes of Kandy to Colombo and to the silverware cabinet at Nalanda.   
Organised by the Nalanda College Group of 88 this encounter exhibited the true spirit of sportsmanship and played maintaining the highest traditions of the game.   
Ravi Ahangama, Chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his excitement for the upcoming match, stated the ‘The Mahela-Sanga Challenge trophy is more than a cricket match, it’s a celebration of rich cricketing tradition and camaraderie between Nalanda College and Trinity College and expects two days of rich cricketing exhibition.
