Mahesh Abeyratne qualifies for Asian Masters Athletics in Hammer Throw

Veteran athlete and volleyball player Maj. Gen. Mahesh Abeyratne has qualified for the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championships. The event with the participation of 40 countries will be held in October in China.

Abeyratne qualified in the 55-60 age groups Hammer Throw event with a throw of 36.30m at the Masters National Athletics Championship which served as a qualification for the Asian Masters.  

Abeyratne is targeting the Asian record in this event of 42.83m. He is a former Secretary of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army volleyball committee.
