Major Club Cricket Final Defending champions Tamil Union, Army SC in final showdown

The final of the Major Club limited over cricket tournament will take place today between Tamil Union, the defending champions and Army SC, both of whom finished as the top team in their respective groups battling, at the SSC ground from 9.45 onwards.  

Tamil Union led by Dhananjaya de Silva, who ended up as the top team with 30 points in Group ‘A’ winning ten of their 12 matches followed it with a close 16-run win over CCC in the semi-final encounter while Army SC led by all-rounder Thisara Perera came out on top by recording 11 wins from the 12 played and ended with 33 points, getting the better of Ace Capital CC in the semi-final by a convincing 123-run.  

Last year Tamil Union came out victorious against Ragama CC in a low scoring encounter and will look for a repeat while Army SC having lost in the semi-final last year will no doubt be aiming to go one better.
