Sammu Ashan shone with an unbeaten knock of 97 as he guided Ace Capital CC to record a thrilling four wicket win with five balls to spare over CCC in the final of the Major Club limited over tournament played at the the SSC ground yesterday and, in the process, helped Ace Capital CC to clinch their first maiden title.

Ashan’s knock, which came off 111 balls, comprised seven boundaries and three sixes, which put in the shade the knock of 80 in 46 balls by Isuru Udana for CCC, which proved to be in vain.

Ashan guided his side in a challenging run chase of 252 runs, associating in two valuable partnerships—the first of 80 runs for the fourth wicket with Raveen de Silva, who made 38, and the other of 56 runs for the fifth wicket with Sakuna Liyanage, who chipped in with 25.

Ace Capital CC, led by Thanuka Dabare and coached by Dinesh Weerasinghe, in their first major title win had a successful stint as they chalked up six wins out of seven in the first round matches and then recorded a convincing win against Moors SC in the semi-final encounter.
