Major Club Limited Over Madushka, Thimodya, Janaka steer Ragama CC

Half tons by Nishan Madushka and Dineth Thimodya, and a five-wicket haul by Janaka Sampath paved the way for Ragama CC to record a comfortable 58 runs win over Chilaw Marians CC in the Major Club Limited Over encounter played at Katunayake yesterday.


The match curtailed to 28 overs due to a late start saw Madushka crack 78 in 80 balls inclusive of four boundaries and a six while Thimodya hit a quickfire 61 in 51 balls which included three boundaries and two sixes as the pair associated in a valuable 103 runs stand for the second wicket to help Ragama CC taking the first lease of the wicket to make a formidable score of 188 for 6.


Later left-arm leggie Sampath’s impressive match figures of 5 for 23 enabled Ragama CC to bowl out the Marians for a score of 130 runs and record their third win of the tournament.


In another match played at the Army ground in Dombagoda, Bloomfield overcame Galle CC by 18 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method. Bloomfield batting first made 148 runs and Galle CC in their run chase was on 122 for 9 when bad light stopped play.


Meanwhile, four other matches BRC vs Negombo CC, Sebastianites CC vs SSC, CCC vs Nugegoda S&WC, and Kandy Customs CC vs Kalutara TC were abandoned without a ball being bowled.
