Major Club Limited Over Tamil Union, Army SC, Ace Capital CC, CCC enter semis

The league matches of the Major Club Limited Over cricket tournament which came to an end over the weekend saw four teams Tamil Union, Army SC, Ace Capital CC and CCC taking the top two places in the two groups to qualify to the semi finals.  


In the Group ‘A’ segment saw Tamil Union taking the top spot by securing 30 points with ten wins from the 12 matches followed by Ace Capital CC with 27 points also from ten wins. In the Group ‘B’ segment Army SC came out on top with 33 points from 11 wins and CCC in second with 31 points also from 11 wins.  


In the final round of matches saw Army SC, Tamil Union, CCC, Ace Capital CC winning their matcheswith ease against Negombo CC, Bloomfield C&AC, Galle CC and Kalutara TC.  


The semi finals are scheduled to be played on July 30 with Army SC meeting Ace Capital CC and Tamil Union clash with CCC. The venues have not been confirmed yet.

At Panagoda – Army SC won by five wickets

At Reid Avenue – Tamil Union won by nine wickets

Tamil Union 79 for 1 in 15.2 overs (Ron Chandragupta 45, Sithara Hapuhinna 22 n.o.)  


At CCC – CCC won by nine wickets


Galle CC 190 in 45.3 overs (Hareen Buddila 47, Tharindu Amarasinghe 34, Nuwan Priyadharshana 21, Ravishka Wijesiri 16, Subhanu Rajapakse 17 not out, Malinda Pushpakumara 4 for 30, Wanindu Hasaranga 2 for 38, Ashan Priyanjan 2 for 48)

At Katunayake – Ace Capital CC won by seven wickets

At Maggona – Colts CC won b y eight wickets
