Major Club cricket final Sadeera shines, Tamil Union amass 356/5

Tamil Union skipper Sadeera Samarawickrama shone with a fine knock of 188 in 243 balls which had 18 boundaries and six to help his side end day one with a formidable score of 356 for 5 in the four day Major Club cricket final against CCC played at the SSC ground.


Skipper Samarawickrama winning the toss and electing to take first lease of the wicket gave the side a flying start of 103 runs with opener Navod Paranavithana who made 54 in 70 balls with four boundaries.


Samarawickrama associated in two more fruitful partnerships for the second and third wicket, he found a reliable partner in Ron Chandragupta with whom he added 130 runs for the second wicket before they were separated with the dismissal of Chandragupta who chipped in with a 48.


 This followed with Samarawickrama putting on a stand of 48 runs with Santhush Gunatileke for the third wicket before Tamil Union lost two quick wickets which included Samaraweera the fifth wicket to fall. The match will be continued today.
