Boys’ overall champions Maris Stella

Maris Stella College, Negombo (82 points) and Lyceum, Wattala (60 points) won the Boys’ and Girls’ Athletic Championship respectively at the 53rd Ritzbury Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship 2024, which concluded at the Kotavila National Sports Complex in Matara yesterday.

11 new meet records were established and three records were equalled at this meet, which was conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletics Association.

Meanwhile, D. A. S. Shamalka of Gonagala MV, Gonagalpura and Dilini Rajapaksha of Lyceum, Wattala won the awards for the Best Athlete (Boys’) and Best Athlete (Girls’) respectively.
Shamalka won the Under-14 Boys’ long jump event (6.54m) while Dilini won the Under-15 Girls’ long jump event (6.04).

St. Benedict’s College with 67 points emerged overall runners-up while St. Joseph’s College, Colombo (42 points) secured third place in the Boys’ Championship.

Ave Maria Convent, Negombo (51 points) were the overall runners-up in the Girls’ Championship while Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya, Matara (38 points) came third.
