Matale District U16 Football Tournament 2023 Ajmeer NS emerge U16 Champions

Ajmeer National School Ukuwela in Matale emerged boys Under 16 football champions as they outplayed fancied Zahira College Matale by one goal to nil (1-0) in the final of the Matale District inter- School Football Tournament 2023 for boys Under 16 concluded at the public ground in Ukuwela recently.   
For the winners M.F.M Aadhil booted the winning goal in the second half. The two day football tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association saw the participation of nine schools namely, Vijaya College, Zahira College, Greenwood International School, Royal English School, Matale Ajmeer National School Ukuwela, Hameediya MV Kureewila, An Noor MV Warakamura, Sigiriya MV and Weera Mohan MV Dambulla in the fray. 

 
In the run up to the final, Ajmeer NS Ukuwela beat Greenwood IS 3-1, beat Weera Mohan MV Dambulla 5-0 and then Vijaya College Matale 5-0 in the semi-final.   
 Ajmeer NS team was coached by A. H. M. Hanafi with M. Niyad as the assistant coach.   
Representing Matale District, Ajmeer NS Ukuwela in Matale will compete in the all island Under 16 boys inter-school football championships 2023, which is scheduled to be worked off at S. De S. Jayasinghe play ground in Dehiwala from September 7 to 9.
