Skipper Kamindu Mendis and Lahiru Udara shone on day two for Kandy against Dambulla in the National Super League Provincial cricket tournament match played at the Pallekele Stadium.
Mendis, who was unbeaten on 51, was unfortunate to miss out on a ton as he was dismissed for 94, which included nine boundaries and a six.
Udara made a fine 83, inclusive of nine boundaries, putting on a valuable 151 runs for the fourth wicket with Mendis. After both batters were dismissed, Kandy lost their remaining six wickets for the addition of only 60 runs.
Elsewhere, a last wicket stand of 59 runs between overnight batter Kalhara Senaratne and Nuwan Pradeep helped Jaffna resuming from their overnight score of 318 for 9 to end their innings with a respectable score of 254 runs against Galle in another match of the same tournament played at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium.
Galle in their turn, thanks to unbeaten half tons by openers Sangeeth Cooray and Pabasara Waduge, ended the day with a bold reply of 113 for 0.
