Minister appoints three-member committee to restore football administration

Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has appointed a three-member Independent Committee to restore the administration of Football Sri Lanka (FSL), which has been banned by FIFA, with effect from July 24.
FIFA authorities and a Sri Lankan delegation led by Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe have appointed the relevant three-member committee according to the agreement of both parties after a discussion held recently through zoom technology.


Three officers working in FSL, A.G.C. Deshapriya (Chairman), Nayana Kapurubandara (Secretary) and A.R.C. Kahandawala (Treasurer) were appointed to the three-member committee. (This committee has been appointed in accordance with the powers vested in the Minister of Sports in terms of Sections 32, 33 and 41 of the Sports Act No. 25 of 1973 and its amendments.
According to the FSL constitution passed on 22 September 2022 by the executive committee led by FSL former president Jasver Umar, the minister has authorized the relevant committee to carry out the necessary activities to elect the new executive committee through an official election.


Accordingly, the term of office of the members appointed by the election held in the future shall be four years, which also includes the appointment of the General Secretary as Chief Executive Officer.
