Moragasmulla SC, New Star SC, Matara City SC win opening matches of Champions League

Moragasmulla SC, New Star SC, and Matara City SC won the opening matches of the 2022 Champions League football tournament today.

The tournament conducted by Football Sri Lanka (FSL) with the participation of 14 teams will continue until September 30.

Moragasmulla SC beat SLTB 3-0, New Star SC defeated Crystal Palace SC 2-0, and Matara City SC beat Negombo Youth SC 2-1.

A brace by Eranda Prasad in the 10th and third minute of added time, and a strike by Dilan Madushanka (67) helped Moragasmulla triumph at Baddegana Football Complex after leading 1-0 at half time.

After a goalless first half, a brace by Kelum Priyankara (65th, 88th) saw New Star SC win at Maligapitiya ground, Kurunegala.

A double by Boadu Prince (20th, 73rd) saw Matara City SC prevail over Negombo Youth for whom Amal Silva struck in the 58th minute.
