NOCSL grants USD 5,000 to promote beach volleyball

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) has decided to allocate a sum of USD 5,000 to the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) for the development of beach volleyball.


The NOCSL has agreed to disburse the first instalment of the grant for the period 2022-24 amounting to USD 2,500 while the balance is to be given later.


NOCSL President Suresh Subramaniam has pledged his support to promote the national sport of indoor volleyball to SLVB President Kanchana Jayaratne.


At a special meeting held between the NOCSL and SLVB, it was mutually agreed to promote the sport of beach volleyball in future.


In addition, an agreement was signed by Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa to allocate sums of LKR 27,391,800 for indoor volleyball and LKR 16,600,200 for beach volleyball under the purview of the High Performance Sports Development Programme of the  Sports Ministry and National Sports Council.


These funds have been given for volleyball for the development and better results in the future.
