NWP and NCP bag NSG weightlifting titles

North Western Province (NWP) and North Central Province (NCP) clinched the Men’s and Women’s Championship respectively at the 48th National Sports Games (NSG) Weightlifting Championship held at the National Sports Complex in Polonnaruwa.  

Six new Sri Lanka records were established at this event, which was conducted by the Department of Sports Development of the Ministry of Sports.  

The Men’s champions NWP won four Gold Medals and one Bronze Medal while the runners-up NCP won three Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and two Bronze Medals. 

Meanwhile, the Women’s champions NCP won three Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal while the runners-up NWP bagged three Gold Medals and two Bronze Medals.  

Isuru Dilanka of NWP was named the Most Outstanding Weightlifter in the Men’s Championship while Upamalika Gunathilaka of NCP was selected as the Most Outstanding Weightlifter in the Women’s Championship.
