National Sports Festival postponed again

 The National Sports Festival will not be held for the second successive year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Sports Ministry sources revealed yesterday.

However, from 2022 the Sports Festival will be held at the provincial level and the following year it will be conducted by the Sports Ministry, Amal Edirisooriya, Director General of the Department of Sports Development said yesterday.

The main idea in conducting the event at provincial level is to provide the much needed exposure for the rural Sports Administrators and the officials to obtain experience at this level.

The entire cost for the Sports Festival will be provided by the Sports Ministry.
