Kamindu Mendis (Front) hugs Oshada Fernando after reaching his century

Kandy skipper Kamindu Mendis top scored with 109 to help his side, resuming from their overnight score of 288 for 2, to make 444 against Jaffna on day two of the National Super League final, played at the Galle International Stadium.
Mendis, the leading run scorer of the tournament, struck 12 boundaries and a six and along with Oshada Fernando, who made 87 with seven boundaries, put on a valuable 188-run stand for the third wicket.
Kandy’s late order batting, apart from Pulina Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella, failed to make any impression as they lost wickets at regular intervals and lost the remaining seven wickets for the addition of only 122 runs.
Jaffna in their turn ended the day on 42 for 1 having faced 20 overs before bad light put a stoppage to proceedings.The match will be continued today.
