r Kamindu Mendis, Lahiru Udara and Sahan Arachchige shone for Kandy in the final day’s proceedings of the National Super League Provincial Tournament in their first inning win over Jaffna, which concluded at the Pallekele International Stadium yesterday.
Skipper Mendis made a top score of 137, inclusive of ten boundaries and two sixes, and was involved in two partnerships, while Udara and Sahan chipped in with knocks of 65 runs each.
The final day’s proceedings saw Kandy resuming their second innings from their overnight score of 25 for 0, going on to make 322 for 5, which came on the back of two partnerships with skipper Mendis involved in both; the first of 110 runs for the fourth wicket with Udara and the other of 153 runs for the fifth wicket with Sahan.
Colombo became the first team to record an outright win when they defeated the hapless Dambulla side by an innings and 132 runs at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Saturday.
