National Super League Kandy, Jaffna record first inning wins

Kandy and Jaffna recorded first-inning wins over Galle and Colombo in the four-day National Super League cricket tournament encounters concluded at the Sooriyawewa Stadium and SSC ground yesterday.


Kandy, having already taken a first-inning lead on day three, resuming their second innings from their overnight score of 15/0, went on to make a score of 190/5 declared and Galle, set a target of 351 runs for victory, ended the day on 201/7. Meanwhile, Jaffna, trailing by 164 runs on day three, fought back thanks to half tons made by Lahiru Madusanka and Jeffrey Vandersay, which helped them, resuming from their overnight score of 184/6, to make 359 runs in reply to Colombo’s score of 348 runs to secure a first-inning win.
