National Super League Limited Over Dambulla come back to winning terms

Dambulla after having undergone a defeat to Galle in their previous outing came back to winning terms when they came out victorious against Kandy by one wicket in the National Super League limited over encounter played at R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday,


However they were made to work hard for their win in their run chase of 240 runs and the foundation for the win was laid by top scorer Sonal Dinusha and Ashan Priyanjan who together put on a valuable stand of 66 runs for the fifth wicket which helped them to reach the target with seven balls to spare and in the process they chalked their sixth win of the tournament,
The morning session saw Kandy taking first lease of the wicket lost two early wickets with 35 on the board in the sixth over before Oshada Fernando who made 76 in 75 balls inclusive of ten boundaries and a six and Lahiru Udara who scored a run a ball 52 with seven boundaries put on 110 runs for the third wicket enabling them to make a score of 239 which proved to insufficient.


Meanwhile Colombo recorded their first win of the tournament with a comfortable 71 runs win over Galle in another match played at the SSC ground. Galle having chalked up three wins who came into the game as favourites put themselves in a spot of both in pursuit of 226 runs for victory. The top order batting seemed to have their grip as they were made to struggle for their runs.


Within the first 20 overs they were in a bad position of 71 for 5 and never recovered as they lost the remaining five wickets for the addition of 83 runs being bowled out for 154 runs.
Earlier Colombo taking first lease of the wicket made a modest score of 225 runs which came on the back of a knock of 58 by Sachitha Jayatileke who shared a partnership of 92 runs for the sixth wicket with Dushan Vimukthi.
