A knock of 112 by Ahan Wickramasinghe was in vain as Yasodha Lanka and Raveen de Silva cracked half tons to help Galle record a comfortable six wicket win over Kandy in the National Super League limited over encounter played at R. Premadasa Stadium.
Galle chasing 260 runs for victory was given a sound start by openers Lanka who made 68 and Sohan de Livera who together put on 90 and later in the innings De Silva who remained unbeaten on 56 and Sanoj Dharshika associated in an unbroken 72 runs for the fifth wicket for Galle to race to the target in the 48th over to get off the tournament on a winning start.
An opening wicket stand of 147 runs between Sandun Weerakkody who cracked 73 and Ron Chandragupta 63 laid the foundation for Jaffna to record a thrilling four wicket win with seven balls to spare over Colombo in another match of the same tournament played at Sooriyawewa Stadium.
