National Super League Oshada, Kamindu shine, rain hampers Day one of Semis

Oshada Fernando and skipper Kamindu Mendis shone with unbeaten half tons for Kandy on day one of the National Super Provincial League semi-final encounter played at the Pallekele Stadium which was hampered by rain. 


The match was called off early with Kandy taking first lease of the wicket reaching 102 for 2.


Fernando remained unbeaten on 71 and was involved in two valuable partnerships with the first being for 73 runs for the second wicket with Kasun Vidura who made 45. The other was an unbroken stand for 81 runs for the third wicket with skipper Kamindu Mendis who remained unbeaten on 51.


In the other semi-final encounter between Colombo and Galle played at the Sooriyawewa Stadium Kusal Mendis made an unbeaten 83 and put on a 111 run stand for the fourth wicket for Colombo taking first lease of the wicket to end day one on 224 for 6. The matches will be continued today.
