The Sri Lanka Volleyball Association (SLVB) have planned to restart the national volleyball pool targeting the 2022 Commonwealth Games in England and the 2022 Asian Games in China.

All training activities of the Men’s and Women’s national pool as well as the beach volleyball pool training were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in August last year. SLVB Secretary A. S. Nalaka said an Open Selection Trial will be held in October to select the players for the indoor and beach volleyball pools.

The Sports Ministry and the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka have already directed the SLVB to field a Men’s and Women’s beach volleyball team for the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.

Meanwhile, SLVB have decided to field a Men’s and a Women’s team for the Central Asia Zone Tournament in December in Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka could not participate in any international tournament last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also pulled out from the 21st Asian Men’s and Women’s Tournament.
