Negombo Youth down New Star in Champions League

Negombo Youth SC defeated New Star SC 2-1 in their FSL Champions League Football Tournament Stage-10 match played at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The first half ended at 0-0, but Negombo Youth SC produced an improved performance in the second half to turn the game in their favour and record their sixth victory of the tournament. Negombo Youth SC took the lead through an own goal from Sameera Krishantha in the 55th minute, and thereafter, they made it 2-0 with another goal from Anthony Ikwegbuo in the 73rd minute.

New Star SC scored their solitary goal in the 77th minute through Nadeeka Pushpakumara.

Meanwhile, the match between Java Lane SC and SLTB SC ended in a 1-1 draw at the Maligapitiya Grounds in Kurunegala. SLTB opened the scoring through Vijesundaram Yugesh in the 32nd minute, but Java Lane SC found the equaliser through Mohamed Rikhan in the 59th minute.
