Newly-promoted to the top division, Sri Sumangala College, Kandy will be fielding a fresher-laden outfit in the current Inter-Schools Under-19 League Rugby Tournament, which began last week.

They were able to put up a pleasing performance in their very first outing of the tournament before going down against the favourites Isipathana College 3-50 in Colombo.

Sri Sumangala ended as the runners-up in the Segment ‘B’ Tournament last year and they were promoted to the top division.

They will surely go through some tough moments as the ‘A’ Division school teams are in different level but with match-exposure towards the end they are assured to get their rhythm in order.

Number Eight, Dinidu Wickramasinghe will lead the Sri Sumangala outfit this year with ample support coming in from Vishwa Gamage and Adithya Rathnayake, who are the two deputy skippers.

Meanwhile, Roshan Rathnayake, who performed all the hard work last season, in order to gain promotion, will once again be their Head Coach.
