Nimesh and Bimandee crowned champions at 75th National TT Championship

Nimesh Ranchagoda of Navy and Bimandee Bandara of Hillwood College Kandy emerged champions in the Men’s and Women’s categories respectively at the 75th National Table Tennis Championship at S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia. It was conducted by the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) for the year 2021. Ranchagoda won the national title for the very first time while it is the second title for Bandara who also won in 2018.   Ranchagoda was adjudged as the Best Men’s player, whilst Bandara was adjudged as the Best Women’s player of the championship.   

The Chief Guest Dr. Dilshan Balasuriya, Director of Yeti products gave away the trophies and certificates.   Cash awards were sponsored by Anura Lal, Chairman of the Githmi Sports, Ambalangoda & INSEE Cement.   
The men’s and women’s singles champions received Rs. 25, 000 each and the runners-up Rs. 15,000 each.   The semi-finalist of the men’s and women’s singles received Rs. 5000 each.

Women’s Doubles: Ishara Madurangi (Sri Lanka Ports Authority) and Hansani Piumila (Navy) beat Ayla Chitty (Ladies’ College, Colombo) and Bimandee Bandara (Hillwood College, Kandy) 3-2 (09/11, 11/09, 06/11, 11/09, 11/07)   
Mixed Doubles: Ishara Madurangi (Sri Lanka Ports Authority) Chameera Ginige (University of Sri Jayawardanepura) beat Sanduni Prabuddhika (Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda) and Isuru Anjana (Army) 3-2 (09/11, 11/07, 09/11, 11/09, 11/0)   
Men’s Consolation Singles: Umesh Niluminda (Army) beat Senul Rathnayake (Dharmaraja College, Kandy) 2-1 (10/12, 11/05, 15/13)   
Women’s Consolation Singles: Hashini Sandeepanie (Government Surveyor’s Association) beat Dinewni Dissanayake (Mahamaya College, Kandy) 2-0 (11/06, 11/01)
