A three-year ban was imposed on nine officials from the Tri-Services by the Sri Lanka Kabaddi Federation for violating the rules and regulations of the federation.
As a result, three Army officials, three Air Force officials and three Navy officials have been suspended from kabaddi administration.
They have been barred following an inquiry conducted on the directive of the Sports Ministry after being found guilty of not releasing players from the Tri-Services for the national kabaddi championship last year.
The suspended officials are Group Captain P.N. Fernando, Group Captain N.A. Gallage, Warrant Officer P.G.R.R. Gunatunga (Air Force), Cdr T.S. Kolonna, Lt Cdr G.V.D. Darshana, Lt Cdr R.P.C. Susantha (Navy), Brig. M.W.T.C. Methananda, Major D.N.P. Karunaratne and Warrant Officer P.G.M.I. Gamage.
