Old Royalists showed their dominance, retaining the prestigious Fred De Saram Trophy with an impressive tally of 30 points against their traditional rivals Old Thomians’ 21 points.
This annual event was held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
Nimal Piyaratne and Samitha Perera of the Old Royalists Team emerged victorious in a nail-biting match against Shiran de Soysa and A. S. Amarasuriya from the Old Thomians, securing a remarkable 8-7 victory.
Adding to Royal’s triumph, Malik Samarasinghe and Chandra Ediriweera showed their skills, clinching another win for their team with a tight score of 7-6 against rugby fame Arjun Dharmadasa and Hiran Amaratunga from the Old Thomians.

However, the Mount Lavinia golfers displayed commendable performances, with Glen Mathew and Herath Abbey securing a convincing win over Royal’s Dr. Yanilka De Silva and Jeremy Stork with a score of 6-4.
The Royal-Thomian Golf Tournament serves as a friendship and camaraderie among Old Boys from both institutions.
It celebrates the rich tradition of golf while instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and respect.
