Top seeded Haroon Aslam eased into the Final of the Gold Division Junior Golf Champion Title clash defeating Pranav Muralitharan 7 and 5. However, in the second semi-final K. Danushan fired 4 Birdies to Vinuda Weerasinghe’s three Birdies to clinch the tensed battle 2 and 1 on the 17th hole. Both Golfers displayed solid temperament and skillful Golf worthy of a Gold Division Semi-Final.

The Final to determine the Junior Champion for 2022 Tees-Off at 9.00 a.m. today morning, with Haroon Aslam favoured to follow up his victory in the recently concluded Regional Junior Championship played in Victoria Golf and Country Resort Course, Digana, Kandy.

However, the Match-play format is a different proposition and Danushan playing on his home course RCGC could definitely push Haroon to the wire. Nonetheless the Final for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy, promises to be a thriller.
The Girls Gold division for the Rukmini Kodagoda Trophy will see Kaya Daluwatte meet the experienced and confident Sherin Balasuriya in the final.

Kaya annihilated Yelani Peiris 9 and 8, whilst Sherin was battled all the way by a determined Dhevinka Kanag-Isvaran who played excellent Golf to hold Sherin in a well fought out clash, eventually going down 2 and 1 to Sherin Balasuriya.

In the Silver Division, again the juniors in the 12 – 14+ age group category produced really good Golf and in two close encounters Reshan Algama overcame Jevahn Sathasivam 2 and 1, whilst Jacob Nortonbeat Adithya Weerasinghe representing the Anuradhapura Golf Club also 2 and 1.

However, both matches were much closer and tougher than the winning margin suggests.
The diminutive 13 year-old Adithya, was not deterred by being half the height of his opponent but showed tremendous grit and skill to mark his place for the future.

Jacob Norton after his thrilling victory over Varun Fenando after being 1 down playing the 18thhole , fired a Birdie on the 18th to go down the 19th and secure victory on the 20th displayed his temperament and character to overcome the determination of Adithya.

On the other hand, Reshan Algama going 1 down after the 9th birdied 11th and 12th to regain the lead and hold on for a decisive win.

The Bronze Division final between Thejas Rathis Kanth and Saqeeb Zuhar is tilted in favour of Thejas Rathis Kanth who romped to a 9 and 8 victory over Keya Abhayarathne whilst Saqeeb Zuhar defeated Yehansa Senanayake 6 and 4.

The Copper Division for Age group 9+ and below over 14 holes Match-play Danik Daluwatte plays Yuva Rathis Kanth in a close battle for supremacy.

Danik beat Taalia Silva 7 and 6, whilst Yuvan defeated Jaeden Sathasivam 4 and 2, in the semi-final matches.
