Paris Olympic Squad receive OLY honours

The Paris Olympic Games representatives after the OLY honorary ceremony.

The 2024 Paris Olympic representatives were presented with the OLY honourary title from the World Olympian Association at the seventh Sri Lanka Olympians General Meeting and get-together held at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Sports Ministry in Colombo. 

Those who received the OLY honourary title at this occasion were Aruna Dharshana (athletic), Kyle Abeysinghe (swimming), Dilhani Lekamge (athletic), Ganga Senevirathna (swimming) and Viren Nettasinghe (badminton).  

However, athlete Tharushi Karunaratne, who represented Sri Lanka in the Women’s 800m event at the 2024 Paris Olympics was not present at the occasion.  

Meanwhile, the Allianz insurance health insurance scheme, entitled to all Sri Lankan Olympians, was also extended for the fourth successive year.   

There have been 107 Sri Lankan Olympians since 1948 and out of them 77 are living. There are 50 Olympians residing in Sri Lanka and 27 are residing overseas, Sri Lanka Olympian President Sriyani Kulawansa said.
