Poramadulla National School champions at LV Jayaweera girls’ school boxing

Poramadulla National School boxing team

Poramadulla National School Hanguranketa won the 2022 Inter-School Girls’ LV Jayaweera Trophy boxing tournament.  

The LV Jayaweera trophy tournament for school girls was held once previously, 15 years ago, in 2007.  
The Schools’ Boxing Association of Sri Lanka and Sabaragamuwa Province School Boxing Association jointly organised the tournament at Ratnapura, Dela Royal College auditorium.  

Poramadulla National School won four gold medals and one silver medal in the tournament which saw 130 girls from 32 schools participating.  Gimhani Ratnayake of Poramadulla National School was adjudged the Best Boxer of the meet.  

Jamitha Bandara was coach of Poramadulla National School girls boxing team.  

Dheerananda National School, Pilimathalawa were runners-up winning three gold medals and four silver medals followed by Koraboruwana MV, Matara (two gold medals, four silver and one bronze).
