Sri Lanka’s former fast bowler, Pramodya Wickramasinghe is likely to be added to the National Cricket Selection Committee, according to sources close to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The former right-arm fast bowler’s name was discussed and approved at the SLC Executive Committee Meeting, which was held last week.
“His name has been sent to the Sports Ministry for approval. Once it is approved, he will be the fourth selector in the panel,” the source added.
“Yes, his consent was sought before sending it to the Sports Ministry.”
The 49-year-old, who played 40 Tests and 134 One Day Internationals (ODIs), had earlier held this same post on two previous occasions.
If approved, he will join the National Panel with other three selectors, Ashantha de Mel (Chairman), Vinothen John and Chaminda Mendis. The tenure for the present selectors ended
on August 5.
