Pushpakumara, Herath bag national cross-country titles

Veteran long-distance runners R.M.S. Pushpakumara (Western Province) and H.M.C.S. Herath (Central Province) won the Men’s and Women’s titles, respectively, at the 48th National Sports Games Cross-Country Championships 2024 held at the Nuwara Eliya Golf Grounds yesterday.
79 men and 47 women representing all nine provinces participated in this 10km meet, which was conducted by the Sports Development Department of the Ministry of Sports after a lapse of four years. 
Pushpakumara clinched the Men’s title with a time of 34.04s, while Herath returned a time of 39.30s to secure the Women’s title.
Meanwhile, Uva Province took the Men’s Cross-Country Overall Team Championship, and Central Province won the Women’s Overall Team Championship.
