Qatar remained unbeaten in the AFC Under-23 Football Championship Qualifiers when they trounced Sri Lanka 5-0 in their Group ‘A’ encounter played in Doha, yesterday.
Qatar is in the leading position of the points table of group A at the moment.
The winners opened the scoring with a penalty goal in the 28th minute and added another goal to their tally in the 39th minute to lead 2-0 at half-time.
Sri Lanka, who had earlier lost their opening match to Syria 0-5, never looked like making a comeback and conceded three more goals in the second half.
The home side netted the third goal in the 54th minute and further increased their lead with the fourth goal in the 61st minute before Sri Lanka conceded another penalty in the 91st minute.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will play their last group match of the tournament against Yemen on October 31.
