A top knock of 33 by Nisansala Perera and an unbeaten 22 by Manudi Nanayakkara helped Sri Lanka Women U19 to record a comfortable six wicket win over the West Indies Women U19 in the Quadrangular Women’s U19 T20 cricket tournament played at the VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
West Indies Women U19 taking first lease of the wicket made a score of 96 for 3 in their allotted overs. Later Sri Lanka Women U19 in their run chase underwent an early setback but Perera and Nethmi Senaratne helped them recover with a valuable 43 runs stand for the second wicket before Manudi Nanayakkara and Vihara Sewwandi associated in an unbroken 30 runs for the fifth wicket to guide Lankan lasses reach the target in the 16th over and to record their first win of the tournament.
In another match played at the same venue in the evening the India ‘B’ Women’s team record a convincing seven wicket win over India ‘A’ Women’s team.
India ‘A’ Women team batting first made a modest score of 116 and India ‘B’ Women was steered by an unbeaten 39 ball knock of 58 by Gongadi Trisha enabling them to race to the target in the 18th over.
The round robin match will end tomorrow with India ‘A’ Women U19 meeting Sri Lanka Women U19 and India ‘B’ Women U19 clashing with West Indies Women U19.
