RCGC Club Championship pre-quarter-finals today

The 103rd Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) Club Championship will see eight of the pre-quarter-final encounters being worked off at the club course today, with the first tee off at 11.00 a.m.  
Defending Club champion, Reshan Algama, and the legendary Rusi Captain, a 16-time winner of this prestigious championship will battle it out which is the pick of the encounters today.  
Reshan will need to play his A game to topple the veteran who will be all out to make it to 
the quarters.  
Yannik Kumara, another rising star in the tournament, will go head-to-head with Amand Flamer Caldera. As an emerging talent, Kumara’s performance being on the rising side with many eager to see if he can outplay the 
formidable Caldera.  
Shamal Perera, who has shown remarkable form throughout the tournament, will meet Jacob Norton in a match that promises to be a display of precision and consistency.  
Meanwhile, the multiple-time club champion and powerful hitter, Sachin De Silva will test his mettle against former RCGC Captain Ranil Peiris, in what is sure to be a battle of wits and experience.  
Other exciting matchups include Suhayb Sangani versus Prashan Peiris, Husni Uwise against Adam Fernando - a newcomer who has quickly made a name for himself - and junior golfer and Scotland representative, Jevahn Sathasivam taking on another talented Thejas Rathis Kanth.  
The final pairing of Vinuda Weerasinghe against Sanjul De Silva adds another layer of intrigue to the tournament.  
In the Ladies Silver section, Kaya Daluwatta, the current champion and Sri Lanka’s only female world amateur ranked player, has secured her place in the next round.  
She will face the winner of the match between Jade Jiggens and Sanduni Wanasinghe, in another thrilling contest.  
In the Bronze for Ladies’ Dilini Hennanayake will meet Deepani Gamage, Dinoo de Mel faces Sandra Cadien, Eliane Sterchi meets Manori Jayakody and Dhanushi Wanasinghe, the recent junior champion, meets H. M. D. Bandaranayake.  
After today’s encounters, the tournament will move to the quarter-finals (August 16), semi-finals (August 17) and the final (August 18) at the RCGC.
