Record 96 teams for U-14 Hockey Tourney

The Under-14 Inter-Schools Boys’ and Girls’ Hockey Carnival, conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association (SLSHA), will be held from December 19–21 at the University Grounds in Peradeniya.

The top 10 teams from each category will be selected, and they will be presented with gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to start on December 18 but was put off by a day due to bad weather, with a record number of 96 teams -- 60 boys’ and 36 girls’ -- set to compete.
SLSHA Secretary Anuruddha Herath said that this is the biggest schools’ hockey tournament in the country, with nearly 100 teams vying for honours.

The boys’ tournament will be conducted in eight divisions, while the girls’ tournament will be played in six divisions.
