Reshan Algama - the 16-year-old top-ranked junior golfer from Sri Lanka - will represent at the 76th U.S. Junior Amateur Championships from July 22 to 27 at the Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA.
The youngster earned this berth as he was within the top-600 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) as at May 2024.

Reshan’s inclusion in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships is historic as he becomes the first Sri Lankan to participate in this tournament.

This achievement adds to his remarkable record having won local championships three times. His entry into such a high-calibre event shows his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.

Charlie Woods, son of the legendary Tiger Woods, has also qualified. Competing alongside such renowned young golfers will enhance Reshan’s experience and increase the event’s appeal.

Playing in the same field as Charlie with the spotlight on the next generation of golfing talent, adds a significant layer of interest and competitive spirit for Reshan.

Further to the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships, Reshan’s World Ranking has also exempted him from all-preliminary qualifiers for another prestigious event, the 124th U.S. Amateur Championship.

He will compete in the final qualifier at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton, Minnesota teeing off on July 29.
Reshan’s swing coach is Jehan De Saram, Anura Rohana, who helps with his course management and Arjun Lal from India, who has been assisting Reshan in his mental strength.
