A three-week residential training camp organised by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for selected Under-19 Provincial cricketers commenced yesterday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium following the end of a quarantine period.
After a four-day training conducted by all leading coaching staff of SLC, selection matches will be played at Pallekele and Asgiriya. On conclusion of the camp a squad of 30 players will be shortlisted for future tours this year for the Asia Cup (UAE) and Under-19 World Cup (West Indies). Few of these selected pool of players will be identified for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) which will take place in Hambantota during November 2021.
The 75 players will be grouped into five squads of 15 each playing for Kandy, Western Province North, Western Province South, Dambulla and Southern. As part of the program, four games of T20 matches and 10 one-day matches (50 overs) will be played among these teams.
