The inter-school segment of the CR & FC Centenary Rugby Sevens Tournament will kick off today with Royal College taking on Wesley College at Longden Place on Friday (31).
The opening game of Group A, which could also be considered a Group of Death, is scheduled to start at 10.30 a.m. In addition to Royal and Wesley, Group A also features St. Peter’s College which makes it a very tough group.
Arguably the favourites for the inter school segment, Isipathana College, is drawn in Group C with Zahira College and Vidyartha College while Trinity College is set to face St. Joseph’s College and Piliyandala Central in Group B.
Kingswood College might start off as favourites in Group D which also includes S. Thomas College as well as DS Senanayake College.
All the round robin fixtures are expected to be completed in the afternoon with the quarter-finals set to be held from 3.40 p.m.
Inter club matches will begin on Saturday with a Group A match between Kandy Sports Club and Police Sports Club while that Group also includes CR & FC as well as Army Sports Club.
In Group B, Air Force Sports Club, Havelock Sports Club, Navy Sports Club and CH & FC will battle it out for the top spot.
