Hosts S. Thomas’ College emerged champions of the Centenary T20 Triangular Cricket Tournament when they overcame traditional rivals Royal College by seven wickets in the final played at Mount Lavinia.
Royal taking first lease of the wicket were able to muster 91 runs in their allotted 20 overs and the Thomians reached their target in the 18th over to clinch the Anura Tennekoon Trophy.
Earlier, Royal pulled off a comfortable seven wicket win over Trinity College to book their berth in the final.
The champion S. Thomas’ Team, apart from the Trophy, received a cash award of Rs. 100,000 while the runners-up Royal received Rs. 50,000 and Trinity Rs. 25,000. Shene Abeyratne of Royal was adjudged Best Batsman, Shalin Perera of S. Thomas’ was named Best Fielder, Sasindu Mapa of Royal was selected Best Fielder, Dineth Gooonewardene of S. Thomas’ was named Man-of-the-Match and Akash Fernando of S. Thomas’ was selected Man-of-the-Series.
