The SAFF Under-19 Girls’ Football Championship will be held in December in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Football Sri Lanka (FSL) President Umar Jaswar told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
India, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to compete in this tournament.
The SAFF Executive Committee, following a meeting in the Maldives recently, decided to conduct this tournament on the invitation of the Bangladesh Football Association.
This is the first time that an Under-19 Girls’ Football Tournament is conducted in the region although an Under-18 Girls’ event was held in Bhutan in 2018 with Bangladesh winning the title.
In preparation for this tournament, FSL are planning to form a 30-member Under-19 Girls’ national pool, which will be pruned down to 23, two weeks before the event.
