The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) and All India Football Federation have decided to conduct the 2022 SAFF Under-19 (Men’s) Football tournament commencing July 25 to August 3 in India.
Six countries India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka are expected to take part in the fourth edition of this tournament.
Nepal have won the tournament twice in 2015 and 2017, India in 2019 while Bangladesh were runners-up twice in 2017 and 2019. Bhutan came fourth in 2017. Sri Lanka and Maldives have not progressed beyond the group stage.
In preparation for this tournament, Football Sri Lanka (FSL) has formed an under-19 national pool.
FSL has also decided to select under-19 players from the ongoing Independence Trophy Ceylon Provincial League 2022 Football tournament.
