SL Football Squad leaves for Qatar tomorrow

The Sri Lanka Football Squad is set to leave for Qatar tomorrow to participate in a special training camp in preparation for the 13th SAFF Championships which begins on October 1 in the Maldives.

The Sri Lanka Football Squad was scheduled to leave for Qatar on September 9 but their departure was delayed due to Covid-19 protocols in that country.

President, Football Sri Lanka Umar Jaswar said they are expecting the approval from the Qatar health authorities today and the Sri Lanka Football Squad will most probably leave for Qatar tomorrow.

The SAFF Championship will be held from October 1 to 16 on a round-robin basis with the participation of five countries namely, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, India and Nepal.   

         
Pakistan is going through a period of suspension from the world governing body while Bhutan has pulled out from the event due to Covid-19.
